When you first look up treatments for urinary incontinence or options to treat pelvic floor dysfunction, you’ll most likely see options for medications, uncomfortable pelvic floor therapies, or even surgeries.
But what if there are other comfortable, noninvasive options for treating your pelvic floor? At Vitality Medical Wellness Center, we offer Emsella in Belle Meade, TN, as a noninvasive alternative to treat pelvic floor dysfunction.
What is Emsella?
Emsella is a noninvasive pelvic floor treatment that uses HIFEM (high-intensity focused electromagnetic) energy to stimulate rapid contractions within your pelvic floor—over 11,000 in just 28 minutes. This provides an intense workout for your pelvic floor muscles well beyond what you can accomplish through Kegels or other exercises.
What happens during Emsella?
During your Emsella appointment, you will sit down on the Emsella chair fully clothed. Your provider may adjust your sitting position to ensure you receive the full effects of the HIFEM energy, but otherwise you can sit back and enjoy a 30-minute break while you receive your treatment.
While you may feel the involuntary contraction of your pelvic floor, the treatment is completely painless. You should be able to sit comfortably during your entire appointment.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions you need will be determined by you and your provider, but most patients will need about 4 to 6 sessions, receiving 1 to 2 sessions a week.
Will I need to prepare for Emsella?
There’s not much you need to do to prepare for your appointment! Simply wear thin, comfortable clothing and remove all metal pierces or jewelry from your body prior to treatment. We also ask that you let your provider know before your treatment if you have any metal or electronic implants in your body, as this might affect your ability to receive Emsella.
